All 4 endings of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - How to get?

In action Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice you can get four endings. The ending depends on the actions and decisions made by the player. Let's figure out how to get the ending: "Sura", "Return", "Purification" and "Breaking the bonds of immortality". If you want to get the platinum trophy, you will have to unlock all 4 endings.

Ending 1 - Sura (Shura)

Sura is the fastest ending in Sekiro. After defeating the Guardian Ape and the Corrupted Monk, you will have to head back to Ashina Castle, where the Great Shinobi Owl awaits you on the rooftop. After talking with him, you will have a choice - to obey him or Kuro (Kuro). Select the "obey the Owl" option. This will initiate two boss fights and you will get the Surah ending.

This ending opens trophy "Sura" (Shura).

Ending 2 - Purification

Just like in the first option, you will need to get to the roof with Owl. This time stay loyal to Kuro and defeat Owl. Follow these steps to unlock her:

  • After defeating Owl, go to Issin (Isshun) and eavesdrop on him and Emma (Emma);
  • Eavesdrop on Kuro from around the corner in his room;
  • Rest and go upstairs to talk to Emma about Kuro, agree with her;
  • Rest and talk to her again;
  • Go to the Old Grave Idol, go left to the graves and talk to Emma again;
  • Go to the Sculptor and eavesdrop on both of them from behind the building;
  • Fight Emma and get the bell from her, which you use again at the Buddha statue;
  • Go to the same room where Lady Butterfly was;
  • Defeat Owl.

This ending unlocks the Purification trophy.

Ending 3 - Breaking the bonds of immortality (Immortal Severance)

As in the 2nd ending, you will need to get to the rooftop with Owl. Stay loyal to Kuro and defeat Owl, but don't go to the second version in Hirata Estate this time! Instead, you'll just have to follow the story until the very end without going back to Hirata Manor.

This ending opens trophy "Severing the Bonds of Immortality" (Immortal Severance).

Ending 4 - Return (Dragon's Homecoming)

Just like the other endings, you will have to get to the rooftop with Owl. Stay loyal to Kuro and defeat Owl. From there, you'll just have to follow the story through to the end with a few things you have to do before you end up with the final boss.

Gather snake fruit (Fresh Snake Fruit and Old Snake Fruit) from giant snakes. For the old one, head to the area before the Guardian Ape fight, but instead of going in the Ape's direction, go to the very edge of the area in the other direction. You will reach a cave with a Giant Serpent in it. There, follow the path until you see his head. Jump down to the left side and use the Puppeteer Ninjutsu Technique on the monkey and it will draw the snake away from you. Go through the door and take the Old Fruit.

For fresh fruit, head to the Senpou Temple and jump off to the right of the exit near the first idol in the area. There you will see a kite mechanism and a small enemy next to it. Use the Puppeteer Ninjutsu Technique on this little opponent and he will control the kite for you. Follow forward until you can grab the serpent and it will take you to a new area from which you can kill the Giant Serpent. Your fresh fruit.

The next step to the finale is the Divine Child in the Inner Sanctuary. Give her the scroll you find by diving into the pond near the Temple and she will disappear into the illusion where you were chasing the monkeys.

We find it again in the illusion where you fought 4 little monkeys. Talk to her and she will return to the Inner Sanctum and tell you about the fruit. She will tell you to find a monk who is in a dark cave next to the temple you are in. Find him there and bring him what you received from him. Now you can feed her fruits. You will receive frozen Dragon Tears from her, which you will have to give to Kuro after defeating the final boss in the game.

Note: If the Divine Child sequence doesn't work, try to rest on the idol, feed Rice to Kuro and go back, or just push the story a little further. Some people have trouble getting this ending.

This ending unlocks the Dragon's Homecoming trophy.
