VALVE to supply KNUCKLES controllers to developers
Valve has announced the delivery of prototypes of its Knuckles track controllers "with improvements in terms of restraint, trigger feel and more."
The new controllers have been developed for some time by Valve, a privately held company based in Bellevue, Washington. Valve engineers are responsible for the key tracking technology used in the HTC Vive. They are also developing their own head-mounted display, and with these controllers they can offer new ways to use their hands in a virtual space. The controllers tether to your hands and allow for realistic grip and release sensations thanks to capacitive sensors designed to track finger movements.
“While we have Knuckles DV kits, in large numbers, we won’t be able to fulfill all requests,” the post explaining the new kit explains. "The team will adhere to developer requests and developer information for any future releases."
