FIFA 23 leak shows Icons cards could be downgraded to FUT Heroes
EA has revealed a list of significant gameplay changes coming to FIFA 23. An unexpected change to Ultimate Team has the potential to affect Icons.
We've revealed our list of five football legends who should be FIFA 23 ICONS. Roma legend Francesco Totti and Dutch maestro Wesley Sneijder highlight this list.
There are over 22 icons in FIFA 100. Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Cafu and Casillas debuted this year.
EA has also added brand new hero cards representing the player and their hero moment in a specific league. The cards are not as highly rated as the standard ICONS, but they have received special upgraded cards called FUT Captains.
A new leak suggests that some lower-rated ICON cards may be downgraded to Hero cards in FIFA 23.
ICONS for FIFA 23 will be revealed later.
Icons supposedly can be downgraded to Heroes in FIFA 23
A FIFA Foot Sherriff leak has revealed that ICONs can be downgraded to Heroes in FIFA 23. The leak claimed Icon Jay-Jay Okocha is now listed as a FUT Hero item.
Okocha is the 20th lowest rated Prime Icon, and this leak claims he's downgraded to 88 overall.
The lowest overall prime Icon is 88 overall by Hidetoshi Nakata. Other notable Prime 90 players include Rio Ferdinand, Claude Makelele, Pep Guardiola and Marc Overmars. It will be interesting to see what precedent lowers Okocha for other legends.
Downgrading low rated icons will result in more useful packs. For example, a basic icon set will give players a better change to a rarer legend if the player's less desirable items become heroes instead.
However, as it stands, this is just a leak and we will provide any updates if an official announcement is made.
