Sega Genesis Mini delayed until 2019

Sega genesis mini has been postponed until 2019. It was originally announced for 2018, but the mini system is slated for release next year, Sega said in a tweet.
One well-known portal translated a Japanese tweet and quotes Sega: “We have decided to release a partial release in order to allow the company to simultaneously launch the console around the world.” Sega added that it wants the Sega Genesis Mini to have "the level of quality that Sega fans have come to expect," according to Gematsu. The delay also appears to be due to Sega looking to "rethink device design", according to the site.[irp]
The Sega Genesis Mini, or Mega Drive as it was known in Japan, was announced back in April. At the time, Sega said it planned to launch it in 2018, but provided no other details.
This will not be the first mini Sega Genesis. The officially licensed Sega Genesis Flashback console from AtGames was a major disappointment.
Consoles with plug-ins and games have proven incredibly popular, at least in the United States. Sales of such consoles grew 21 times in August 2018 compared to last year; To date, dollar sales of plug-and-play consoles are up 400 percent. The NES classification is classified by the volume of units sold in 2018, while the SNES Classic, which costs more, led to an increase in dollar sales.
