PPSh and Colt 1911 in Escape From Tarkov for Victory Day
To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory over Nazi Germany in World War II, Battlestate games give players the opportunity to use two of the conflict's most iconic weapons.
Battlestate Games surprised players on May 8th by announcing that the legendary PPSh-41 assault rifle and Colt M1911 pistol will be available from May 9th to celebrate Victory Day in Russia.
On the Eastern Front, the PPSh played a decisive role in helping the Red Army push the Nazis back to Berlin. On the other side of Europe, millions of American soldiers trusted their Colt 1911s with their lives, and now Tarkov players can get their hands on both.
We'll start first with the good old 1911 Colt, which served as the standard weapon for the US Army from 1911 to 1986.
Colt takes the 45 AMP round which means it uses the same ammo as USP Heckler and Koch and the recently introduced Kriss Vector Gen 2.
In order to obtain the Colt M1911, players will need to purchase it from Peacekeeper, a UN-hired arms dealer specializing in Western and NATO equipment.
This is followed by PPSh, developed by the USSR in 1941. By the end of the war, the Soviet Union had produced over six million weapons in the fight against the Nazis.
Equipped with a 7,62x25mm Tokarev pistol projectile, the PPSh is capable of inflicting significant damage at close range, but with an accuracy of up to 150 meters.
Historic variants have been offered with either a 35-round box magazine or a 71-round drum magazine, and since the game likes to be as realistic as possible, we can probably expect both to be available when the weapon arrives. Players can purchase PPSh from Prapor, a local weapons dealer in the Eastern Bloc.
So, whether you prefer the utilitarian Colt, the classic PPSh submachine gun, or just want to get both, be sure to stop by Tarkov on May 9th and celebrate VE Day in style.
