Poppy Playtime Chapter 3: Deep Sleep - 100% completion

Chapter 3: Deep Sleep - a new, third chapter of the indie horror game Poppy Playtime. The game will have another batch of tricky puzzles and meet a new clawed enemy. This guide will walk you through the entire story and provide tips on how to beat the difficult boss!

So far we've faced a few scary animatronic friends, but now we'll have to fight a new one named Catnap. Catnap has the ability to put people to sleep, so that will come in the future.

Home

After you exit the opening cutscene, you will need to go up the ramp to the left. Fall between the bars in front of you, then walk forward until you can't. The game will then prompt you to look up and grab the bar above you. The next room contains a simple jumping puzzle; Jump on the tops of these giant pistons when they are in a straight line, and then jump into the hole on the left. Keep track of so as not to remain on the pistons that go up, while waiting for a movement cycle; You will be pressed against the ceiling.

Dive into the hole in the wall directly in front of you, then turn left and look for a door along the wall on the left. Press E to interact with him. Next you'll find yourself in a room with a slightly more difficult jumping puzzle; Don't stand on the pistons as they descend, or they will carry you down into the nightmare gas that fills the room below. So you'll need to jump over all three of them to the middle platform and then jump over the remaining ones to reach the ramp on the far side of the room.

Look to the right and find a platform you can grab; Grab onto it and jump onto it while holding it. Release so it slides back onto the throttle.

Go through the ventilation shafts until you reach a room with a sofa and a TV; There is a VHS tape on the floor that you can take and watch on the TV in the corner by the sofa. On the other side of the room there is a simple battery puzzle; With both hands, take two batteries (1, 2) and insert them into the empty slots (A, B). Then press your hand against the armrest to open the door.

Go through the door, then to the end of the corridor. Turn left, look for an electrified hexagon. Right-click to grab the green electricity with your green hand (it won't work with your blue hand), and guide it across the hall to the triangular green electricity button on the other side. The door won't stay open for long, so be sure to go through it as soon as it opens.

Answer the phone in this room and the speaker will give you a battery to help you open the door. Exit through the door and follow the rails away from the fire. Near the end of the train tracks, you will find a handle in the ceiling that will help you climb onto the train platform. The door labeled "Security" on the left side of the platform is the only open door, so go through it. At the back of the room there is another door leading to a locked "Maintenance" door. Here is the solution to the puzzle inside.

  • Grab the yellow stripes at the top of the thing.
  • Rotate it using the Q or E keys until the laser points to the back of the room, opposite the door you entered.
  • Once it is rotated, use one hand to touch the hexagon to strengthen your arms.
  • With your other hand, press the hand button on the fixture.
  • This will allow you to exit through the maintenance door and then through the platform turnstiles and up the stairs.

In Playcare

At the top of the stairs is a tram; It will take you to the next area. You just need to pull the two switches on either side of the door to the tram. Then the doors will open, sit down and ride it to the end. This will take you to Playcare; Ollie will come on the phone again to ask you to go down to the middle where the statues are. Go down the stairs to the power center. Inside, Ollie will have a key hidden in a small cage. The key goes to the glowing red door to the left of the tram you rode into the area.

Gas production zone

Go to the gas production area, then go through the door to the left. Inside you will find a green battery. It can be used in the green port to the right of the main Gas Production room. Make sure the color of the battery matches the color of the port. This will open the door next to the port; You can go inside to find a VHS (1) and a new purple hand called Grabpack 2.0 (2).

As we have the Grabpack, we can go out into the main room and look at the floor to the left of the doorway, unlocked by the green radiator. There is a purple handprint on the floor that you can use to fly into the air and onto the balcony above you. Inside you can look down and see a small Grabpack puzzle at the bottom. Go there, using the Grabpack arm to push through it. You will need to run up to the handprint and use the purple hand to jump over the holes in your path.

Next, players will have to solve a purple hand fast jump puzzle. If you look at the red gas lake, you will see that there is a platform in the room that you can grab. You need to grab onto the platform, bring it close, then use it to jump onto the pipes sticking out of the left wall. Turn around and grab the platform again, dragging it as far to the left as possible; You can then jump over to the far side. This will take you to a room with another hand joining puzzle. In order to solve this problem, you will need:

  • Jump onto the cage containing the energy source. Use the purple handprint on the floor to climb onto it.
  • Then, with one hand, grab the nearest connecting gizmo, turning it to face the device on the other side of the room.
  • Turn the farthest thing so that it points to the button on the wall.
  • Grasp the power source with one hand, looking down into the hole at the top of the cage that holds it.
  • With your other hand, press the button on the nearest thing.
  • This will open the door to your left, revealing a new button.
  • Rotate the nearest thing so that it points to the new button.
  • Turn the farthest thing to face the nearest thing.
  • With one hand on the power source, use the other hand to press the button on the farthest thing.
  • A door labeled “Exit” will open.
  • Use the handprint on the floor to jump over the Red Smoke liquid and go through the open door.

The exit leads you back to the first Gas Extraction room, and the power finally returns to the giant button in the very center of the room. Click on it and the power will turn off. Head back the way you came from Playcare, back to the center under the statue, and find the new key in the small delivery cage where the previous key was found. This key is for Home, Sweet Home, which is on the other side of the main zone from the Gas Production Zone.

Home sweet home

The first thing you encounter inside Home Sweet Home is a door filled to the brim with Catnap's "Red Smoke." The only exit is through it, unfortunately, so you will need to run as quickly as possible through the smoke. However, it is very easy to get through this; You just need to run straight through the door and down the stairs. This will drop you into the maze that is inside Home Sweet Home. Go to the end of the corridor, then turn in either direction (both directions return to the same place). As you move towards the back of the building you will hear phone call; You need to find this phone and answer it, because Ollie has something very important to tell you:

Next it's time to run. Return to the entrance and the lights will begin to flicker. No matter which way you go, you will end up next to a door with a very loud knock. When you turn the corner from here, you'll come face to face with Catnap for the first time. Approach him and he will leave. This will lock you into a small circular area; Walk back and forth until the exit opens. Once the hall opens again, there will be a room at the end of this corridor, but you will not be able to enter or interact with it. Instead, just turn left in the reddish colored hallway. No matter which way you go after this point, all paths will lead you to a place with cassette (1) and TV (2).

Play the recording and the chase will begin. You won't be able to outrun him, but once he catches you, you'll wake up in a room filled with Red Smoke. Go through the open doors, then look down into the hole in the floor. One hand raise your gas mask. You can equip it by pressing F. Jump into the hole in the floor, then use your hand to interact with the back of the toy car. He will break the boxes blocking the path to the exit. Put on your gas mask and move along this corridor until you find a launch pad with a palm print at the end.

You will now find yourself in the laundry room. The path to the next room will be blocked by a chest of drawers; You will need to use both hands at the same time to move it. Point both hands at the handprint on the furniture, then press both buttons to pull it back. Jump over the obstacle and go into the next room. Once inside, you'll need to dive under the table blocking the door to get to the next area.

Use the blue hand on the platform next to the door to open it. Immediately on the right inside the door there will be a new one cassette, and the TV to play it will be in front of you when you open the door. After watching the video, go back the way you came, duck under the table again, blocking the door, then go right through the hole in the wall. Opposite the hole in the wall in this room there will be a door; Open it and go through to see Catnap walking by. Dive under the boards to go through the door in front of you, go through the hole in the wall on the right and head through the door in front of you. I changed the settings in my game to make the screenshots a little clearer in this section too.

Next you need to take two batteries to power the door to the next section. One of them is on the floor next to the two battery ports, and the second is on the floor above. Go to the place where the live electrical wire hangs from the hole in the ceiling and look up; There is a bar on the ceiling that will take you into the sleeping area above. Go through the children's room into the next room; There will be a giant bear lying on the floor with a battery in its back. This will allow you to press the red button to the right of the battery ports to open the door to the stairs. Go up the stairs and interact with the racing car there. He will clear the way to the balcony of the main room of Home Sweet Home. On the right side of the balcony there is an open door to the living room. Behind the sofa there is a bookshelf whose door can be opened to find VHS cassette (1) to view on TV (2)

Next we need to switch to green handto use power supply (A). The power outlet is located in the ceiling; he will open the door under the ceiling rose; You will need to act quickly as the door does not stay open for long. There is a hidden power source in the next room and another outlet in the ceiling. The door on the opposite side of the room from the door you entered through will open. The next room to your left has the same locked door; You will unlock it in the same way. Jump onto the giant blocks near the hole in the wall and you can see the power source. Use it on the port in the ceiling to open the door and move on.

In the next session you will find a giant statue with a battery in the back. He will turn towards you no matter how fast you run, so you will need to go through the next rooms and sneak up from the side to get his power source. Go through the vent in this room to reach the next section.

The vent will take you to the other half of the office you were in before; You will need the battery you carry with you, plus another one. At one end of the corridor is this office, and at the other end is a door that requires two green charges. You'll need to move quickly through this section; You will need to open the door to the stairs, charge your green hand, put power into the socket on one side of the closed door, then charge your green hand again in the office, run back and charge the other side.

Inside this door is a room with another racing car; Pull the cord to break the boxes on the other side of the corridor and go there. There are three rooms you can enter; look for the one with the closed door filled with Red Smoke. it will contain air ventwhich you can enter. Go into the next room and on the left will be battery. Grab it green hand, then continue forward; A few steps forward and you should see a door with a glowing blue handprint. This will take you back to the office, where you can insert another battery and press the wake button on the wall nearby. This will open the door to the main area; The door is finally open and you can go inside. Use your blue hand to open the door and move into the next large puzzle room.

This room will introduce you to hand turrets; Point the thing at the button on the wall, then go to the turret and press E. Point the turret at the palm print on the device, then go back. To the right of the tower is a lever to turn it on; This will cause the button to be pressed, revealing the wall on the right.

Crouch to get to the other side, then climb the stairs to reach the platform above. Use your hands to spin the tall thing so it faces the button above the first turret puzzle. Then aim the small thing at the big one, then use the turret next to the tall thing to aim at the small one. Climb the stairs and exit onto the platform. Turn off the first turret puzzle, then turn on the second. Drag the platform over the moving wall, then trigger the first puzzle. After Poppy leaves you, return to Home Sweet Home, grab the cord near the entrance and take it to the central hub under the statues. Connect the power near the discharge tube, then a new key will be delivered from Ollie. Use this new key to get into the School.

School

The next location is the school. When you first enter, there's a short power puzzle waiting for you (if you get stuck, just keep opening the doors until you see a source and a port in the ceiling). After this, you can find the battery in the lounge area, and then bring it to the office. There will be a second empty battery port, so you'll need to go deeper into the school to find it. After leaving the office with the battery ports, turn right and crouch under the desk to reach the next area. To your right there will be an open door with a bunch of computers inside; There will be an open vent in the ceiling that will take you to the next area.

Climb up into the vent; It will transfer you to another battery so you can bring it back to the office and turn on the power source. This will allow you to grab the energy with your green hand, return to the hallway, under the table, and place the energy into the triangular port next to the gate where Miss Delight disappeared. To the right of this gate on the floor near the lockers (1) hangs videotape VHS; TV (2) is in the next room.

In the next room, you will need to grab each of the power buttons with each hand, as well as touch the pillar nearby. Once you do this, it will start the generator and Delight will appear. She can't move while you're looking at her, so you'll need to walk through all the rooms backwards. Grab the battery from the floor before leaving this room.

A little tip: the battery you pick up at the beginning is needed to open the first gate, but you can take it out of the port and take it with you to speed up the next part. For the most part, it's just solving puzzles while Miss Delight follows you around.

Now that Miss Delight is dead, you will find another new hand; This one allows you to attack. When you cross the bridge in the next room, look to your right. There is a battery that you need to grab to open the door. On the other side TV and another one VHS tape. Using the purple hand, start your way to the next puzzle. This puzzle is much easier than it looks; you just need to aim at the turret, constantly point the attachments forward and make sure you are on a platform with an elevator, when you turn on the turret; Here's the video if you need it. Go downstairs, then take the restricted door to the Playhouse below.

All places to take notes in school

While inside, you may have seen a note or two. There are six of them in total, located on the piano bench, hanging from the open vent in the ceiling, on the ottoman, next to the first radiator, and next to the door you enter for the Miss Delight cutscene.

The final page can be found immediately after Miss Delight is killed. Look for a room in the hallway. If you don't want to search through all these notes, I've also included what's in each one.

play house

Inside the Playhouse you will meet many tiny, animal-like characters. Shoot them with your orange hand so they don't attack. This first room will have another TV; The VHS will be in the next room under the tent. Continue through the Playhouse maze on both sides until you find two giant buttons; There will be a block above them that you can pull over it to keep it pressed down.

Once both buttons are turned on, you can move to the center to press the center button. The center button makes the circular platform rotate, so stand on that platform, then press the button, which will take you to the door. Enter, then go down the stairs.

Once you hear the last of the Smiling Beasts tell their story, the chase will begin. You may have to do this a couple of times because there's a huge creature chasing you and there's only one way through the entire Playplace maze. If you can't find the exit, it's a hole in the floor on the same path you took to get into the dungeon (see screenshot below).

At the end you will need a purple hand to jump over the hole and take you to the next area. Take the elevator to the top, then go down the pipe at the top left. The end of this tube will return you to Playcare Central and Ollie will finally be able to contact you again. He will send you to the statue building again to get key from the office.

Office of the Counselor

In the advisor's office, you can find the first battery in the vent above the battery port. Take this battery, place it in the port, go through the door, then take it through the door so you have the battery again. Use this battery on the port in the next room. Next to the port in this office there is another one on the table VHS tape. Open the door with the battery visible across the room filled with red smoke. Next, go past Eduardo Gal's office and look for a hole in the ceiling with a handrail at the top above the end of the hallway. This will lead you to a new puzzle.

  • Look up above the puzzle and grab the bat to pull yourself up.
  • Use your blue hand to grab the power source, then grab the power pole with your blue hand.
  • This will bring up a platform with a purple palmprint on it.
  • Use the purple hand to jump to the other side.
  • Release with blue hand.
  • Use the blue hand to connect to the power source, then wrap it around the pillar on this platform.
  • Jump with the purple hand to the other platform.
  • Use the purple hand to grab the bar and pull yourself up to the first platform again.
  • Grasp this pole with your blue hand, then press the button with your purple hand.

Next we need to go to Stella's office. There will be VHS here, as well as a TV to play it; You will also need to open a vent in the ceiling to get the key to the next area. Go through the locked door, through the hallway, up onto the ceiling with the handrail, and into the vents. There's only one way to get through these vents, but don't forget put on a gas maskbefore opening the vent and falling into the room below.

In the next section, you will need to enter all three cabinets and open the power supplies. Take the battery from the other port that is visible through the hole in the wall, then turn on the power source that is located behind the power supply next to the battery port. Use the power supply with all three power supplies to open the door without removing the mask the entire time. In the next room there is a new tricky puzzle. In order to complete it, you need:

  • Turn the small thing closest to the entrance so that it points at the second small one, then turn on the turret next to it. This will unlock the jumping puzzle. Get the jumping puzzle to the top.
  • Jump onto the platform above, then pull the lever (1) to open the gate next to the elevator.
  • Next to the grate there is a battery in a box (2). In order to open it, you need to pull it off the platform and let it fall to the floor.
  • Once the battery compartment is open, use it on the entry door. In this room there will be another battery in a box.
  • Drag the battery in the box to the elevator and remove the battery from the port to take it with you.
  • Move the device closest to the door so it faces the elevator, then turn the turret back on.
  • Stand in an elevator with a battery in a box and another battery in your hand and ride the elevator to the top.
  • Place one battery in one battery slot, then drop the battery in the box off the platform to open it.
  • Take the second battery from the floor and insert it into the second port.
  • Next, turn off the turret from the platform.
  • Turn the device closest to the entrance so that it points towards the second small thing.
  • Rotate the large contraption so that it points towards the battery ports.
  • Turn on the turret from the platform.
  • The door will open.

In the next room you need to jump on the boxes on the right to get into the vents. They will be filled with red smoke, so wear a gas mask. Go through the vents, take the battery and watch the cutscene. Then exit the advisor's office, go down the stairs and look to the right. Under the statues in the center there will be a cord that you need to connect, and then take the key that Ollie sends you. Then grab the cord from where you, Poppy, and Kissy took the elevator earlier; A flower will be drawn on it. Connect it to the statue and Ollie will send you a blue battery. Take it to the Gas Production Zone.

Ending

Connect the blue battery to the blue port in the Gas Extraction Zone and Catnap will come for you. Enter the elevator at the other end of the room before he catches up to you by pressing the large button (1) to open the elevator, then press the button (2) on the inside of the elevator to ride it up.

Last but not least, we have a boss fight. In order to win, you need to do several things. Read the instructions when they appear on the screen, collect all the batteries in the central location and get ready for battle.

A cat dream can approach you in several ways: from the left side, from the right side, and from above. If he comes in from above, you just need to grab the door bar at the top and slam it shut. If he's coming from the right, you'll need to open the cage on the right with one left hand, then charge the green hand with the port behind you and grab the triangle port behind the door. If it's coming from the left, you need to use the purple hand to jump over the top of the left side, then charge the green hand and connect power to the port on the other side.

As the timer counts down, you'll need to pull out batteries from around the room and insert them into the four corners of the machine in front of you when they light up. When the timer on the car runs out, touch it with your green hand to end the fight. Take the elevator back down to the gas production area and connect the blue battery.
