Elden Ring Floating Cemetery - How to get there, Cave of Knowledge
The Stranded Graveyard, also known as the Cave of Knowledge, is the first training area for the Elden Ring. It is here that each player will begin their journey, regardless of the chosen you class. It's also completely optional, as the textbook itself can be found by jumping down into the large pit - or go around and up the stairs to the elevator leading to the Limgrave region.
The choice is yours as to which path you will start your journey on, but for new players it is best to explore the cave, while experienced Souls players may skip the tutorial, as apart from a few items and not much currency, you will not find in this location.
Chapel of Anticipation Elden Ring
After watching the introductory video, select the character class and customize its appearance. Please note that further gameplay will depend on the selected class. We have opted for samurai.
After creating your chosen character and class, you will wake up in the Waiting Chapel. The lonely and forgotten place is devoid of enemies, but you can find a dead girl near the door that keeps Gnarled Finger of the Extinct (Tarnished's Wizened Finger). With this item, you can create messages on the ground that other players can see for cooperative play.
Exit through the main door and you will see a huge glowing tree in the distance, with a large lock. Head towards the balcony overlooking the castle and you can find some wooden scaffolding heading down and to the left.
From here you can cross a long rope bridge leading further up the high peaks of the island, on your way to a large statue of Marika - and a boss fight.
Augmented Scion is one of those extremely tough enemies that From Software likes to throw at new players right from the start of the game so they can die. You have no way to heal and the chances of winning a battle with him are not great, so accept your fate and enjoy the first taste of Elden Ring death. It can still be defeated. The boss is afraid of attacks with fire arrows. During the battle, keep a distance from him and send your fire projectiles at the target.
If you are defeated, your body will supposedly fall into the ocean below, where the tides will carry you to a new location - and a mysterious girl on a horse will find you.
You'll wake up in a stranded graveyard and on the right you'll find a large cave that serves as a sort of study guide. It's a good way to get your bearings, learn the controls, and see some of the new features Elden Ring has in store for you.
The Cave of Knowledge Elden Ring
Floating Cemetery Elden Ring
Dropping into the cave below will give you a guide on how to use the items - remember that in addition to the items you can scroll through on your D-Pad, you can also assign items to the quick slot.
Directly ahead is the Cave of Knowledge, the Place of Grace, which serves as a sort of campfire in Elden Ring. Resting in this location replenishes your health and FP flasks, resurrects most of the defeated enemies, and allows you to cast magic spells and search your vault. New to Elden Ring, you can also change the time of day and equip new weapon skills and property scaling by collecting War Ashes.
Not far from the place of Grace are easy enemies that you can train in both magic and melee combat. After killing them, the path will lead up and you can jump at will to get up the steps to the large cave. The enemy above may try to shoot you and you can either shoot back with magic or move forward to get out of range for the moment.
Behind the large cave is another shielded enemy that could signal a good time to try a change of tactics, including swapping weapons and moving into a two-handed stance. This can be done by pressing Triangle/Y and R1 or L1. Using weapons in two-handed stances can give you a lot more offensive power by hitting through hardened defenses, and sometimes it can even pierce the hide of strong enemies, which can cause one-handed weapons to bounce!
Dual wielding is also the best way to implement weapon skills - every weapon comes with a default skill that can improve your abilities in exchange for FP, and these can often be customized per weapon when you find Ashes of War (dust to call assistants and spells).
After clearing the cave of the undead, you will move across the bridge where the soldier was chasing you earlier, and the path will lead to a large cave filled with foliage. This is a good place to test new stealth mechanics.
With the help of new mechanics, with which the player can silently approach the enemy and deliver an accurate backstab. First you need to sit down by pressing "L3" key (left stick). Use to focus targets. R3 button (right stick). Most of the time we will use backstab.
Next, you will get the option to try attacking attacks either on the ground or while jumping to put some extra power on your attack, which can be ideal for destroying the enemy's position and allowing you to follow close with a critical hit.
In the room outside you will find Marika's stake. They serve as pseudo-respawn points instead of the place of Grace. This means that after death, you can return to the last place of grace where you died, or to Colya Marika, which may be much closer to where you died.
How to Defeat the Boss - Godric's Soldier
This boss is not so much a real boss, but a way to once again hone the fight and apply all the knowledge that you learned in the Cave of Knowledge. Don't be fooled by the exaggerated health bar, Godric's Soldier has very low health, and while more aggressive than most enemies you've seen, won't last very long.
Consider using Guard Counter here - gaining the ability to perform a quick and decisive counterattack when you press RT right after blocking an incoming attack. This should not be confused with the Shield Parry skill, as the parry must be timed to how the attack is about to land in order to parry the blow and leave the opponent open for a critical hit. Guard Counter requires you to hold a block until an attack lands before hitting back with a strong blow, but this will require a short circuit and a long swing, so it's best used when you know the enemy isn't launching a combo , and it's not as effective against crowds.
Using these attacks, Godric's Soldier will most likely die in just a few hits, just remember to block or dodge his sweeping sword swings by focusing on damage until he dies or breaks his position and can be critically hit to finish him off .
Defeating this boss will net you nothing more than a few hundred runes - the Elden Ring's currency used to level up and buy supplies - but more on that later.
At this point you can exit the room which will take you back to where you started above the Cave of Knowledge and on the ledge you will find your true reward - Emote of Strength. From here, you can drop down and head through the doorway up the stairs to find Grace's floating graveyard.
You may also notice a body hanging from a high ledge at the back of the cave where you started - you can't get to it from here, but as you explore the world outside, you can find an alternate cave that leads you back to the body!
Imp Statue Seal
Near Place of Grace you will find a mysterious force field next to the statue of two gargoyles. You can unlock the force field by finding rare keys (stone blades) and building them into gargoyle statues. Sometimes you'll only need one key - sometimes more, and there are many of these statue doors all over the Earth in between, so you'll need to choose wisely what you want to use your keys on.
From the place of grace, head straight ahead and take the elevator to leave this tutorial behind and enter the first region, Limgrave.
What you do from here is largely up to you: there's already a huge open world to explore, and you can run straight to the nearest Legacy dungeon by following the strands of light from the Places of Grace that point like arrows to the east, and then north to Stormvale Castle.
