Outriders: How to Get a Tanner Hat and What It's For
Outriders players can get Tanner's hat as a legendary headgear, but there's a bit of misinformation spreading about this method.
One of the first characters that players will meet in Outriders, is Tanner, leader of the Outriders, sent to Enoch. Tanner is kind of a strange space cowboy, but many players immediately fell in love with him. Aside from his southern accent, one of his most recognizable traits is his classic cowboy hat, and there's a way to get it in the game. Tanner's hat is a legendary piece of armor that provides players with superior protection and a unique tier 3 mod, so it's worth hunting for. Unfortunately, there is a lot of unreliable information on the Internet about how to get it, but we will fix it.
Like many looter shooters, Outriders categorizes its equipment according to a rarity system. White items are common and mostly useless, while green items are considered uncommon and generally useful early in the game. Blue items are rare and have one modification, while purple items are epic and have two modifications. The highest rarity is gold, a legendary weapon with unique level 3 mods.
Outriders - How To Get Tanner's Hat
While some claim that there is a guaranteed way to get Tanner's hat as a legendary piece of armor, this is not true. Tanner's hat is simply in the same pool as every other legendary armor piece in the game, meaning players will need to farm it just like anything else. Outriders recently fixed a legendary farming exploit, but the best way to get this gear is still by repeating Hunt quests. Complete all 10 (the last of which is at the highest world level available) and players are guaranteed a legendary reward. However, keep in mind that this may not be Tanner's Hat.
Outriders - What Is Tanner's Hat Doing?
For those lucky enough to get their hands on Tanner's Hat, his level 3 mod is "Look Down the Muzzle". With this mod, players will get a massive increase in their firepower for every enemy that comes within close range. This bonus can stack up to five times, making it a great option for Trickster and Ravager classes, because they prefer to be in the center of events. The other mod on the hat is random.
While this may be discouraging for some, it won't take you too long to get the legendary reward for completing all ten hunts. Players can speed up the legendary farming process , completing most of the hunt at World Tier 1 and then switching to their highest available World Tier before completing the last one.
Outriders now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
