Blizzard has released the system requirements for the upcoming Diablo II: Resurrected Remake, and thankfully, they're more than loyal!
Diablo 2 Resurrected was just announced at BlizzCon 2021, and now Blizzard is revealing the PC requirements for the upcoming remaster - and by the way, confirming that mods will be supported.
What system would you need to run Diablo 2 Resurrected then? Thankfully, in terms of modern gaming, the requirements aren't particularly high, although the recommended spec - for 1080p resolution - does require 16GB of system memory (an upward trend these days).
Here are the PC requirements.
Minimum system requirements (for 720p):
OS: Windows 10;
Processor: Intel Core i3-3250 or AMD FX-4350;
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 or AMD Radeon HD 7850;
RAM: 8 GB RAM;
Disk space: 30 GB.
Recommended system requirements (for 1080p):
OS: Windows 10;
Processor: Intel Core i5-9600K or AMD Ryzen 5 2600;
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT;
RAM: 16 GB RAM;
Disk space: 30 GB.
So, as you can see, there's nothing traumatic here, and indeed, the minimum requirements are very simple - though note that this is for running the game at 720p, which of course won't look good.
Diablo 2 Resurrected significantly improves the visuals and, as we have seen, will update the visuals with a fresh coat of paint and will increase the resolution to 4K , supporting refresh rates up to 144Hz.
However, there will be a classic mode that reverts to the sprite-based (2D) look of the original game if you choose to go down that path. Along with improved visuals, Blizzard is bringing Dolby 7.1 surround sound to audio with updated and re-recorded sound effects.
Mods
Another piece of good news is that mod support for Diablo 2 Resurrected has been confirmed on Twitter.

My eyes are still weary from the horrors I've witnessed, but now the classic graphics and cinematics have been updated? The audio remastered? The terrors I saw then are clearer than ever. I fear for my soul. pic.twitter.com/9IjB5JRRT6
Naturally, that's good to hear. We don't know when all of this will happen as Blizzard has yet to confirm a launch date for Diablo 2 Resurrected, but we do know for sure that it will arrive at some point in 2021.
Meanwhile, in the near future open alpha testing , and we can cross our fingers that this remaster doesn't make the same mistakes as Warcraft III.
