How to Solve the Broken Island Water Puzzle Genshin Impact
Here's how to solve the quest with rising water levels and five stones in the Broken Isle of Genshin Impact.
Since the new locations in the Golden Apple Archipelago, it would seem broke out of the sea , you will encounter many treasure chests and puzzles. One of them is related to the Broken Isle area, where you need to look for certain clues. Here is our guide Genshin Impact, which will help you solve the puzzle with the water column on the Broken Isle.

Genshin Impact: Broken Isle Water Column Mystery Guide
If you look at the image of our guide at the top, you'll notice that there are five odd looking pillars north of the Broken Isle fast travel point. Each pillar also has several "scratches" from one to five. There are also five rocks that you can step on and they will make a sound. For now, we don't have to worry about it.
Instead, you'll want to travel to the southwestern part of the central rock formation (below the fast travel point). Here you will find a mini-game against the dodo idol. Just equip the Garpastum Gadget, enter the marked area and press "E" to activate it. Each time the ball bounces off your character, press the left mouse button to bounce it back against the wall (i.e., it's like tennis).
Eventually the wall will be destroyed and a small cave will appear. Kill the mobs here and you will find a fresco (which is also part of another secret mission of the world in the Golden Apple Archipelago region).
This picture gives you an idea of what these water columns are for. Pay attention to the image below:
So, we have five pillars on the beach. Now we see five drawings of "containers" that appear to be filled with water. What does it mean?
Well, come on, open your map of the world. If you look at the Broken Isle, you will notice that this place is surrounded by five ponds.
Yes, these "containers" represent each pond. If you approach each point, you will find a small pool with several notches indicating the water level.
If you use two steps near ponds, you can also increase or decrease the water level. Just look at the example below of a central pond near the fast travel point. We must use steps to lower it to the lowest water level to follow the pattern on the fresco.
To summarize, for each pond you need to do the following:
- Center/South - Lowest water level
- South East - Middle
- North East - Lowest
- Southwest - Highest
- Northwest - Medium
If you've done all that, go back to the beach where you noticed the water columns. Pay attention to serifs. They indicate the order in which you step on the corresponding stones.
Follow this sequence:
- 1 - central / southern
- 2 - southwest
- 3 - northeast
- 4 - northwest
- 5 - southeast
After completing the puzzle, the ground will shake and a short cutscene will follow. To be honest, I haven't seen a new island pop up out of nowhere. Instead, you will have three treasure chests that you can open.
