On Friday, April 5, Epic Games released a Battle Royale (dev) developer update video on the official Fortnite YouTube channel, where details of the previously leaked Respawn Van were officially announced. In addition to the upcoming item being called Reboot Van instead of Respawn, Epic Games has revealed details in a dev update video regarding exactly how the item will work and how players will be able to experience it when the patch notes for the 8.30 update are implemented.
According to a Fortnite dev video update released on April 5, "Reload Vans" will be placed at major points of interest throughout the battle royale title map and will allow players to bring back teammates who have been eliminated from a match. In order to reappear in a match of a fallen teammate, it was explained in the Fortnite dev video that players would need to pick up a reload card and take it to one of the new van vehicles. This will then revive the ejected players back into the game on the Reboot Van with a dev video showing how this happens.
However, a beep and a giant beam of light will be emitted from the van you are using to alert enemy players in the area that a respawn is currently taking place. After the revival was completed, a developer update video explained how the Fortnite Reboot vehicle would be unavailable to players for a short period of time afterward.
The ability to resurrect teammates so they can respawn in a match has become a fan favorite feature for battle royale players with its implementation in Apex Legends. With Apex Legends popularizing this feature, many players have joked about the new Fortnite developer update video by adding their own version with the newly released Reboot Van to be featured in the 8.30 update notes.
However, there will most likely be no shortage of Fortnite players who will be happy to try out the new Van when it is added to a Battle Royale title with the upcoming patch notes, as it will allow them to revive their eliminated teammates and have a better chance of getting a Royal. victory.
