Guide to Dawnbreaker in Dota 2. What the New Hero Can Do

valor

Dawnbreaker is a new Dota 2 hero and we've been playing her non-stop since she came out. Here's what we've learned so far.

The new heroine of Dota 2 - Dawnbreaker named Valora appears as a muscular elf with a huge hammer. The sensational anime Dota: Dragon's Blood turned out to be completely unrelated to the character, and it is difficult to find any mention of this lady in the lore of the game. The description says that Valora, the messenger of the dawn, was created from the heart of a metal star, and this is confirmed by the structure of her skin. It looks like we have a cosmic being in front of us, a kind of Mars in a female guise.

Before we start, let's take a look at the hero's abilities:

star breaker

Starbreaker - Valora spins her hammer three times, dealing damage to all enemies around her. The final hit briefly stuns enemies directly in front of you.

The ability looks quite difficult to perform. If you can easily get close to the enemies at the laning stage, then Valora will need a means of delivery to the thick of the enemies, such as Blink Dagger.

Celestial Hammer

Celestial Hammer – Dawnbreaker hurls a celestial hammer at an enemy, dealing damage to all enemies hit. Soon the weapon returns to its owner, leaving a fiery trail behind it. However, this process can be accelerated, then Valora and the hammer will fly towards each other.

In skillful hands, the ability can become not only a means of dealing damage, but also the ability to catch up with the enemy or run away from the enemy in case of danger.

Luminosity

Luminosity - passive skill, stimulates the herald of the dawn to hit with her hand. Every fourth attack guarantees critical damage and heals nearby allies a little.

Solar Guardian

Solar Guardian - Valora's ultimate ability, allowing her to suddenly burst into the mix and make a rustle there. The character hangs a pulsating effect on an ally that heals companions and deals damage to enemies. Moments later, Dawnbreaker lands in the designated area, damaging and stunning enemies.

These were Valora's abilities, and now let's move on to the gameplay:

First of all, it's best to play a new character in the offlane. She is a very strong laner that can counter the enemy team's carries due to her base stats and resilience as a Force hero.

Early Game Items and Ability Crafting

During the laning stage, you need to get resilience items like Tango, Enchanted Mangoe, and Faerie Fire because they will allow you to pressure enemy heroes.

As for Valora's abilities, you need to focus on leveling up her Heavenly Hammer and Luminosity. Celestial Hammer is great for closing distance and dealing quick damage to enemy heroes. Luminosity will help you put pressure on the enemy, carry the hero away from the creeps and heal your support in the lane.

Dawnbreaker is good against melee heroes as it's not that hard to close the distance. If you are playing against ranged heroes in your lane, you will have to wait until they get out of position.

Be sure to buy an Orb of Venom (Poison Orb) to make it hard for them to get away from you. You need them to use all their abilities and consumables early so you can take control of the lane.

The next item to buy should be Phase Boots because you will always be chasing the enemy team. Then you can see what your team needs when choosing the next item. During team fights, Valora is only useful when she is directly in the center of the opposing team.

Items in the middle of the game

Ideally have a Sange which you can upgrade to Heaven's Halberd which will help incapacitate the enemy carry. Or you can perform Sange and Yasha to put more pressure on the enemy team.

You can also build an Echo Saber to make the most of your Luminosity ability. Landing more attacks will heal your nearby teammates and deal critical damage to your targets.

You will definitely need Black King Bar around the 15-20 minute mark because Valora's abilities are so easy to stop, especially her Starbreaker ability. Even her Solar Guardian ultimate is a channeling ability that can be interrupted by the enemy team if they catch you casting it.

Later, getting a Blink Dagger will also become a viable option for quick kills. You can dash towards your target during the encounter and activate BKB right before you play Starbreaker.

Should I add Valora to my hero pool?

Dawnbreaker is still new. She is hard to play with at the moment and is easily countered by enemy supports who can just wait for Valora to make her move. You also can't play Dawnbreaker passively, because being the offlaner of the team, you have to be on the front lines.

However, Dawnbreaker has its uses. She is great in the laning phase, which can help your team take the lead. Her Sky Hammer can be used for zoning and even for flash farming lanes and neutral creeps. The enemy team should always be aware of her global ultimate, which has a double effect.

If you're going to play Dawnbreaker, it would be better if you pick support heroes that work well with her. A good teammate for her is Bounty Hunter due to his set of abilities. He can set up early kills for her by using his Jinada to slow down the enemy hero. Dawnbreaker can also just cast his ultimate on Bounty Hunter while he is invisible and behind enemy lines.
