“Epics first good decision”: Players debate over Simple Edit being removed from Fortnite Competitive modes

Fortnite has suddenly removed the Simple Edit feature from competitive game modes while the FNCS Divisional Cup Finals are ongoing. Notably, there was no official announcement from the game's official channels about the change. Instead, fans were informed through in-game experiences. Prominent Fortnite fan page @HYPEX highlighted the hotfix in a post that is gaining a lot of traction.
The post currently has over 4 likes and hundreds of thousands of views in just a few hours. One commenter expressed appreciation for the move by Epic Games:
“Epic's first good decision in a long time”
The community is divided on this update, with many supporting the hotfix while others are negative about it. For example, @web3ie feels that the developers are not serious about the game's competitive scene, otherwise they would have removed aim assist first. @RiftJonesy is disappointed with this change. Likewise, @MFTFGames expressed their disappointment, saying that they were close to reaching the highest rank in the game.

On the other hand, @BurnerRondos thought Epic Games would face a huge backlash over this change. @ClenYouTube thought the decision was right, but also noted that they might lose more games. @TiTanSwan27 thought Simple Edit shouldn't have been part of competitive game modes to begin with, supporting this hotfix.

The feature made building more accessible, especially for new players who found it difficult to create the structures of their choice in Fortnite. However, in the competitive scene, the use of Simple Edit raised concerns about potential unfair advantages, which likely led to the feature being removed.
It will be interesting to see what impact the removal of Simple Edit will have on the upcoming FNCS and other competitive tournaments in the game. With this change, players may have to get used to new playstyles, and it may even change the meta-game.
