In Persona 3, the main character is a high school student who joins SEES (Specialized Elective Executive Branch), a group of students researching the "dark hour", a hidden period of time occurring at the stroke of midnight between one day and the next. During the dark hour, the player visits Tartarus, a huge tower inhabited by "shadows", creatures that feed on the minds of people. To counter the shadows, each member of SEES can summon a Persona, a personification of their inner self.

Put on a mask, join the Phantom Thieves of Hearts and steal the evil thoughts from the evil people, forcing them to change their lives in Persona 5 Royal.
