Desperados 3 Announcement From THQ Nordic, Release In 2019 On PS4, Xbox One, And PC

The other day we wrote that the THQ Nordic publishing house is simultaneously developing more than fifty projects. And now, less than a week later, it rolled out a fresh, unexpected and very pleasant announcement. This is a new part of tactical games Desperados, the rights to which have been dangling from the publisher since 2013. Recall that then Atari sold several series to Nordic Games at once, including Desperados c Silver.

With Desperados, the story is rather complicated, if not muddy. The authors of the dilogy, the Spellbound Entertainment studio, after the release of the controversial Desperados 2: Cooper's Revenge, left Atari with the whole friendly company, leaving the right to the brand created by themselves. The studio itself, however, was not going to abandon the series. Three years later - in 2009 - she made her triquel, the authors simply could not call it Desperados 3, and so the game called Helldorado was born. She left all the characters and continued both the plot of the series and the general course set by the authors in the sequel. A few years later, Spellbound died in postpartum pain when she pushed out of herself (not to say otherwise) ArcaniA: Gothic 4, and the rights to Helldorado, someone may have thrown into her coffin before nailing it tightly.

So THQ Nordic is likely to ignore the fact that Desperados already had a threequel, and continue to develop the series in the direction it sees fit (it has already been said that this direction will be "as close to the first part as possible"). Judging by the debut trailer, the plot, like Helldorado, will not send sniper McCoy to the other world, which was hinted at by the ending of the second part. Most of the old characters, including the leader of the entire bandit gang, John Cooper, are planning to return to the system in general.

For those to whom these names are empty words, we remind you that the Desperados series is a real-time tactics game very similar to Commandos, only in the Wild West setting and with more emphasis on the plot and characters. In the sequel, the series received another feature - the ability to control team members in third-person mode, but Desperados III engaged in studio Prize Games, which recently released samurai tactics (what a coincidence, also in the spirit of Commandos!) Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun. And the promise to keep the style of the first part almost certainly means the absence of such newfangled gadgets. We do not mind: the authors have already proven that they know how to handle old mechanics.

The game will be released in 2019 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
